Prerequisite: The candidate must be qualified to dive up to 18m with 10 logged dives. The duration of the course will be 10 days.
The Advanced Eco diver will train a student in the relevant methodology and practices need to participate in most marine environmental research projects, giving the participant a sound basic knowledge of most methods of marine data collection and presentation, and allowing you to participate on long and short term marine research projects.
This course is will train you to achieve the skills needed to contribute to marine research, by teaching you how to conduct and record data for, Marine topographical, Benthic, and Bathymetric surveys. Fish and coral census, and an understanding of Tropical marine Ecology useful in planning independent surveys.
The course gives a student a solid understanding of the skills required to become a Research Diving Professional.
A preliminary evaluation is required by all qualified divers to assess their capabilities and basic knowledge of recreational diving, and is required by most scuba agencies. This will allow RSR to assess a students capabilities and arrange student teams, to maximise the individuals attributes and reinforce their weaknesses.
Course outlines : The Red Sea Research 10 day Advanced Eco Diver course is divided into 10 Sessions with each divided into Academic and Practical.
Day 1: Buoyancy
Day 2: Navigation, Search and Survey patterns
Day 3: Safety, Equipment handling and Rescue techniques
Day 4, 5: Topographical surveying
Day 6,7: Tropical marine ecology
Day 8,9,10: Benthic survey techniques
